Kampmann outworks Condit!

Results by David L. Hudson

Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann spoiled the UFC debut of former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit by winning a three round split decision. Though Condit has not lost a fight in over two years, Kampmann never lost focus on his gameplan and was constantly attacking with chokes. Condit cut Kampmann’s cheek with a quick knee at the end of the first round. Kampmann was never deterred however and he was awarded the judges’ decision. Scores all read the same, 29-28.

TUF 8 light heavyweight winner Ryan “Darth” Bader had no problems outmuscling wrestling standout Carmelo Marrero over three rounds. All three judges scored the bout 30-27 in favor of Bader.

UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin scored a hard fought unanimous decision over Rafael Dos Anjos. Scorecards all read 30-27.

In a bad blood lightweight battle, Cole Miller easily submitted TUF bad boy Junie Browning with a tight guillotine choke at 1:58 of the first round.

Gleison Tibau scored a three round split decision over Jeremy Stephens. All three judges scored the unanimous decision in favor of Ricardo Almeida in his middleweight bout against Matt Horwich. Brock Larson wasted no time submitting Jesse Sanders at 2:01 of the first round. Tim Credeur used superior jiu jitsu to submit Nick Catone in round two at 3:45. Jorge Rivera scored a unanimous decision over Nissen Osterneck. Rob Kimmons used a guillotine choke to submit Joe Vedepo at 1:54 of the first round. Aaron Simpson stopped Tim McKenzie in round one with hard punches. The official time was 1:40.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
