Classy Kenyan-born 168 pounder Kariz Kariuki (17-7-2,16 KOs) will punch it out over twelve rounds with Sonni Michael Angelo ((15-7-2, 5 KOs) at the National Convention Center, Canberra, ACT, Australia with WBO Asia Pacific title up for grabs on Friday.
Kariuki has met several world class Australian boxers Paul Briggs in 2002, Daniel Rowsell in 2002, Glenn Kelly in 2006, Jason de Lisle in 2007. He defeated Mpush Makambi in nine rounds in 2006 and Dale Westerman in seven rounds in 2007. He is based in New Zealand.
Michael Angelo was born in the Congo but has been based in Australia for several years. In his most recent ring outings he extended WBA rated light heavyweight Tim Bell and dropped a split decision to former WBA middleweight champion Maselino Masoe.
On the undercard former Australian welterweight champion Mathew Paulley (17-5-5,7KO’s) returns to ring action against Jason Kanofski (11-1-3,2KO’s) over ten rounds with IBO Asia Pacific welterweight title on the line. Also, former world rated light middleweight Robert Medley (23-2,15KO’s) will meet Robert Toomey (7-6,2KO’s) over eight rounds.Promoter Bill Treacy.
