Kauffman returns Saturday night

By Kurt Wolfheimer

There is a buzz in the air as the long awaited return of local heavyweight contender Travis “GW Hope” Kauffman (22-1, 17KO’s) is set to get back into the ring Saturday night August 11th against the always dangerous veteran Charles Davis (19-22-3, 4KO’s) in the eight round main event of the evening at the Gameface Sports Complex in Temple, PA. The boxing event will have a different feel for the area fans as Kings Promotions is set to put on their first outdoor show in eighteen years. The co-feature loaded Pro-Am boxing card will feature Frankie Santos De Alba (3-1-2, 1KO) in his first six round contest of his professional career, as he faces off against tough Philadelphian Paul Fernandez (5-5-2, 3KO’s).

It has been a frustrating two years for the twenty six year old Travis Kauffman who had to endure two surgeries to his hand and a broken foot which has had him out of the ring for over a year. Kauffman has weathered the storm and is ready to get himself back into the heavyweight elite, but it all starts Saturday night against forty four fight veteran Charles Davis.

Also scheduled for the card is as special four round heavyweight feature as local fan favorite William “Big Stuff” Miranda (5-5-1) of nearby Allentown PA, who squares off against Chesterton Indiana’s Phillip Trianfillo (2-1, 1KO). Miranda has garnered a large and vocal fan base due to his willing to mix it up style in the ring and his likeable attitude outside the ring.

Hard hitting Reading PA cruiserweight Jeremy Stauffer (6-2-1, 6KO’s) returns to the ring after a five year layoff in a four rounder against of Winchester, VA’s Dan Shull (3-16-1, 1KO).

Also scheduled to appear on the card is Puerto Rican lightweight prospect Esteban Rodriquez (5-2-1,1KO) against Cassius Clay (0-5) of Las Vegas, Nevada in a four round contest.

Rounding out the professional portion of the card is the debut of junior welterweight Samuel Omar Quinones, Jr who will square off against hard luck Ramone Ellis (2-7-2, 1KO).

If that weren’t enough six amateur bouts are also schedule for the card.
