Khan, Judah quotes

By Andreas Hale

A conference call was held today to discuss WBA/IBF super lightweight world championship unification fight between champions Zab Judah and Amir Khan, set for Saturday, July 23, 2011 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. which will be televised live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing. Judah promised Khan a new-and-improved Judah. Khan said that his opponent had taken the wrong fight:

Zab Judah: “A lot of things have changed over the years. I’m pretty pleased to see that Amir and Freddie to watch my old tapes to learn about the old Zab Judah. The new Judah is a monster who is 150% prepared for Khan. We’re prepared for July 23rd. We’re definitely going to take him to school. After Saturday night he’ll realize that Golden Boy and Freddie Roach set him up as a pawn. He’s a great fighter just a bit premature. Years down the line he’ll have the opportunity to tell other fighters what he learned on July 23rd. I have a different mentality now. I’m more focused on my career now and my family and the morals of life. I’m at a great place in life right now and I’m fully prepared for the situation.”

Amir Khan: “I’m ready for this fight. We come into this fight as favorites and I’m going to take those titles back home. He can say what he wants but I’m more than prepared for the 23rd. He won’t be able to take the pressure, the speed and  the power. I think he’s taken the wrong fight. He can say what he wants but deep down he knows he took the wrong fight.  We’ve got a plan ‘A’ and a plan ‘B.’ But to be honest with you we don’t see him getting past plan ‘A.'”

Freddie Roach: “Amir has Had some great southpaw sparring in this camp. I think he’s going to shine on Saturday the 23rd. Zab has bitten off more than he can chew for this one.”
