Former WBA light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KOs) has signed a contract for three fights with legendary promoter Don King. Kotelnik and King finalized the deal in Lviv City, Ukraine. “I am very happy that I can work with this legendary promoter. For me it’s a step forward. Don King has accepted all of my conditions and now I will box in the USA,” Kotelnik said. He will next be in the ring in St Louis, Missouri on August 7th against WBC/IBF light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KOs).
“This fight is big and important fight for me. Devon Alexander is a strong contender, but I have more experience. I will give him a boxing lesson. After I beat Alexander, the following target will be Amir Khan. I have asked King to organize for me a rematch against Khan so I can prove that he only beat me thanks to the judges.”
“Alexander-Kotelnik will be very interesting to millions of admirers of boxing. It’s about time the name of Andriy Kotelnik has come,” said King.
Kotelnik will be trained by former Mike Tyson trainer Stacy McKinley.
