Artemio “King” Reyes (15-2, 12 KOs) returns to the ring just a few months after his devasting first round knockout loss in his last fight, a rematch with Alan Sanchez. In their first encounter in 2010 Reyes edged Sanchez with an entertaining split decision win. The circumstances were much different this time around as Reyes’ father passed away within a week of the fight. The loss ended a 14 bout win streak for Reyes. Though some felt that Reyes shouldn’t have taken the fight, Reyes still fought. Reyes will take on veteran Enrique Gutierrez (10-4, 8 KOs)in an 8 round welterweight bout. Gutierrez is coming off of a more than 3 year layoff but has fought solid competition and never has been stopped.
In other action on the same card is an intriguing superfeatherweight match up of once beatens Aalan Martinez (12-1-1, 8 KOs) of Mexico and East Los Angeles resident Ramon Valadez (11-1, 6 KOs). The bout is scheduled for 8 rounds at a catchweight of 128 pounds. The Boxing360 promoted Martinez was scheduled to fight unbeaten Rances Barthelemy on ShoBox last month but was forced to pull out because of a hand injury that has since completely healed. Valadez is coming off of a very impressive victory in his last fight against then unbeaten prospect Kevin Hoskins in his last fight this past April.
WBC Youth World super bantamweight champion Jonathan Arrellano is also said to be featured the same night in an 8 round bout against an opponent to be announced. Site of the event will be the Doubletree Hotel, Ontario, California.
