Jr middleweight contender James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KOs) was sentenced today in Austin, Texas to 24 months in prison for purchasing a gun at a gun show while under probation for a previous robbery conviction. Kirkland was given credit for six months already served and he could be back in the ring in about a year.
