Klitschko-Povetkin Update

By Alexey “Oscar” Potapov

Looks like IBF/WBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 28 KOs) could fight IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KOs) on either September 11 or 18th at Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. Team Povetkin is interested in staging the fight in Moscow. Wladimir was seeking a unification fight with WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KOs), but it appears David is eyeing a fight with Audley Harrison (27-4, 20 KOs), which could take place on November 13th in England.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
