Klitschko-Valuev this year?

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and seven-foot WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev could collide later this year. The “Russian Giant” told the news agency RIA Novosti that in a personal conversation he and Vitali have agreed to meet in the ring. “I have reached an agreement with Klitschko and we really want to meet,” said Niko. “We’ve talked about the end of September or the beginning of October.“
Valuev has now confirmed the report. “It is true,” he stated. “We want to make it happen.” Manager Wilfried Sauerland added, “I know of a phone conversation between Niko and Vitali. That is why I spoke to Vitali about a potential fight when I met him last weekend at Boris Becker´s wedding. I will get in touch with Vitali in the next days.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
