Kotelnik ready for Khan!

Andreas Kotelnik is confident he can defy the odds and successfully defend his WBA light-welterweight title against Amir Khan when the pair go head to head on June 27. Kotelnik heads into the fight the bookmakers’ underdog. But the hard hitting Ukrainian told Setanta Sports News he wasn’t impressed with Khan. He said: “I’ve watched DVDs of him in action and I’m not impressed. He might be the bookies favourite leading up to the fight but I am world champion.” Kotelnik slammed Khan for “always gabbling on” and dismissed any talk of the Khan ruling the light-welterweight division. “First off, I am the world champion; secondly I think I am the best of all the world champions. I will fight the best fighters in the division. But Khan isn’t one of them. I am confident I can beat him.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
