From Thursday to Sunday, world title challengers Robin Krasniqi and Francesco Pianeta took part in a short training camp at the exclusive “Strandhotel Fischland” on the Baltic Sea. Krasniqi will challenge WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly in London on Saturday, while Pianeta challenges heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on May 4 at the SAP Arena in Mannheim.
After Krasniqi completed his sparring on Thursday, trainer Dirk Dzemski brought Krasniqi, Pianeta and SES stablemates Michael Wallisch and Moritz Stahl, to get some fresh air and beach runs. Dzemski also thought up some unusual exercises for his athletes such as pulling car tires through the sand on a rope. The hotel converted a conference room into a boxing gym which punching bags and a ring to practice technical and tactical moves.
Friday was the SES Media Day where representatives of various TV networks, photographers and print journalists took advantage of the special and unique atmosphere to watch the athletes in their training and to conduct interviews.
Heavyweight Michael Wallisch, and super middleweight Moritz Stahl will both fight on the Klitschko-Pianeta undercard.
