Krasniqi sick, fight cancelled

The fight between Luan Krasniqi and NABF champion Johnathon Banks has been cancelled. The two heavyweights were supposed to fight in the Ludwigsburg Arena in Germany next Saturday, February 26. The tickets for the fight night were already sold out. In his final days of training camp Krasniqi got a severe sinus infection and therefore has to cancel his bout against Banks. “I am extremely disappointed and feel very sorry for my fans but a fight next Saturday is simply not possible”, says Krasniqi.

Banks was supposed to fly to Germany today but did not enter the plane. “I was really looking forward to having this fight in Germany as the main event on RTL German television. I hope the fight will be re-scheduled”, says Banks. Banks’ promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions: “This was a great opportunity for Johnathon to show his ability on a big show like this against a veteran boxer like Krasniqi. Many boxing fans were looking forward to seeing this fight in Germany.” The entire fight night in Ludwigsburg is called off.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
