Larsen’s future still on hold

Super middleweight contender Mads Larsen (51-3, 38 KOs), who tested positive for a banned substance after a loss in January to Brian Magee, received a fine and reprimand from the Sports Committee of the Danish Pro Boxing Federation. However, the 37-year-old Larsen is still not free to resume his career. The federation’s Board of Directors is now planning to appeal its own committee’s decision on the grounds that the judgments were rendered in accordance with DPBF rules and not under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code, to which the DPBF is bound. Larsen had said he had no idea that a Chinese herb he took contained banned substances.
