Laryea: I’ll gut Burns like a pig

Super featherweight Joseph Laryea (14-4, 11 KOs) of Ghana defeated Scotsman Paul Appleby (16-2, 11 KOs) in December at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow. In March 12th, he will be returning to the same venue to face Appleby’s countryman, WBO world champion Ricky Burns (30-2, 7 KOs). “I come to Scotland again to KO Ricky burns and take back the belt. He disrespected me last time I saw him and now I make him pay for this. Unless he says ‘sorry’ before we meet in the ring I will gut him like a pig. Appleby has already tasted my power and I will destroy him. I will see you on March 12 in the ring Mr. Burns, and be ready for war.”

Burns vs Laryea headlines an Frank Warren card that also features Michael Jennings against Edinburgh’s Gary McMillan in an eliminator for the British welterweight title, and the aforementioned Paul Appleby, who returns in a six round featherweight contest.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
