Late money flowing in on Povetkin

By Karl Freitag

Possibly due to some notable wise guys picking Alexander Povetkin to upset WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, the odds on a Klitschko victory have dropped from -600 to -400 over the last few days, while Alexander Povetkin, who was +400 is now +300. The bout takes place tonight in Moscow and can be seen live at 3:30PM ET/12:30PM PT on HBO.

Meanwhile, fan favorite and future Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto is holding steady at -600 to defeat Delvin Rodriguez (+400). It will be Cotto’s first fight since he began working with Hall of Famer Freddie Roach. The bout takes place tonight at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The HBO telecast begins at 9:45PM ET/PT.

Also today, recently elevated from WBA interim to WBA regular super bantamweight champion, undefeated Scott Quigg is a -400 pick to successfully defend the belt against unbeaten former Cuban national team member Yoandris Salinas at London’s O2 Arena. Salinas is +300. ESPN3 will stream live at 3:30PM ET/12:30PM PT.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
