Latin Fury 9 Update!

World champion Juan Manuel Lopez and challenger Olivier Lontchi are off to New York City for a Top Rank press conference on Wednesday. Lopez, the WBO 122-pound champion, has a record of 25-0 and was crowned the 2008 Puerto Rico ‘Fighter of the Year.’ He is 4-0 in world title fights, winning all of those by knockout. Lontchi, born in Cameroon and now fighting out of Montreal, has a record of 18-0-2. He was a top amateur in Cameroon, fighting in over 150 amateur bouts. He moved to Montreal eight years ago when he was 18 years old. Lopez and Lontchi will fight at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. on Saturday, June 27, Caesars Atlantic City is hosting.
“I know Lopez, but I generally do not watch video tapes,” Lontchi said. “My trainer (Howard Grant) does all of that. He will give me all of the instructions how to fight Lopez. I do whatever is necessary to win – and I’m undefeated.”

This will be the PPV debut of USA Olympian Vanes Martirosyan who has been training with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Calif….The Yuri Foreman vs. Cornelius Bundrage fight is an eliminator, with the winner to fight IBF junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks…This will be Jorge Arce’s return to the ring since his bout against Victor Darchinyan earlier this year…Latin Fury 9 will be available on Pay Per View providers including iN DEMAND, DIRECT TV and the DISH NETWORK….Russian Olympian Matt Korobov, a middleweight, is on the undercard, as is super lightweight Demetrius Hopkins who has a record of 28-1-1….Undercard bouts begin at 6:30 pm…
