WBO #15 heavyweight Alex Leapia ( 17-3-3, 12 KOs) stopped New Zealand’s Hiriwa Te Rangi (0-13) in round one at the Coolangatta Golf Club, Tweed Heads, NSW, Australia on Friday. Leapai is trained by Noel Thornberry, who trained and managed former WBA middleweight champion Masilino Masoe. Noel’s brother Ricky Thornberry dropped twelve decisions in world super middleweight title bouts to Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke. On the undercard, American 140 pounder Casey Hannan (2-0, 2 KOs) was impressive in stopping Adam King (1-2) in round one. Promoter Noel Thornberry.
