Lee outboxes Watanabe, sets sights on OPBF title

By Victor Lee

In a ten-round non-title main event just over the featherweight limit, current Korean super bantamweight champion and OPBF #1 super bantamweight Jaesung Lee (17-3-2, 9 KOs) saw his hand raised after a thrilling dustup with Japan #8 featherweight Takuya Watanabe (20-5-1, 8 KOs) on Sunday in Seoul, South Korea. Watanabe was down in round three from a Jaesung Lee straight right. In the supporting semifinal event, Eunchang Lee (7-3, 3 KOs) stopped Jaehoon Lee (5-4-1, 3 KOs) in eight rounds to claim the vacant Korean super middleweight title. Full report to come.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
