“Universum Champions Night” returns to the Freiberger Arena in Dresden with five high quality title fights. Fighters appearing on the card took part in a press conference at the “Augustiner an der Frauenkirche.” In the main event, light heavyweight contender Jürgen Brähmer (31-2, 25 KOs) rebounds from his first world title shot against Rachid Kanfouah (29-6, 23 KOs) for the vacant European title. In all, the card will feature four notable light heavyweight bouts, a women’s world title rematch, plus the popular Bedak Brothers.

“I am feeling really good,” said Brähmer. “The defeat in the world championship fight against Garay probably had to be. We have made the necessary adjustments and I will show it to my critics. My initial anger after the defeat turned into courage the next day. I know what I can do. I absolutely want to have the European champion’s title and it’s a big step toward realizing my goal. The goal remains clear: I want to be the next German world champion!”

Brähmer’s trainer Michael Timm added, “In the last ten years, I haven’t seen Jürgen Brähmer train so intensely….from the defeat we have learned a lot and everyone can see that on Saturday in the ring against Kanfouah!”

Rachid Kanfouah is well known to German boxing fans from his great fight against Thomas Ulrich in January 2007. “My preparation ran very well,” he said. “Brähmer is a very good technician and a southpaw. The people expect a great fight. I have come here to Germany to beat him and to win the title!”

In the co-feature is a rematch between WIBF/GBU junior bantamweight champion Alesia Graf (22-1, 9 KOs) and Magdalena Dahlen (9-1, 3 KOs). Graf won their first bout in November in a great fight.

“I am really happy about this fight,” said Graf. “Magdalena Dahlen showed in Rostock that she can box at my level and she pushed me hard. This was an advertisement for women’s boxing….I’m in great shape and will win again. It will be another super fight!”

“In the last few weeks with my trainer Artur Grigorian, I’ve really improved,” said Dahlen “So I’m really happy about the rematch with Alesia Graf. This time I can win!”

Also in action on the card will be former European light heavyweight champ Thomas Ulrich (31-4, 21 KOs) against Mariano Nicolas Plotinsky (14-3, 7 KOs) for the vacant WBO InterContinental title.

In another excellent light heavy clash, WBO #2/WBA #6 Aleksy Kuziemski (16-0, 3 KOs) risks his high world ratings against Armin Dollinger (19-0, 8 KOs) in a battle of unbeatens for the EBA-Europa title.

In a further light heavyweight contest, hot prospect Igor Michalkin (7-0, 6 KOs) faces former world title challenger DeAndrey Abron (15-3, 10 KOs) in a real test for the unbeaten Michalkin

Rounding out the loaded “Universum Champions Night” card, unbeaten junior featherweight Zsolt Bedak (12-0, 3 KOs) will step up against “Destroyer“ Franklin Teran (27-2, 21 KOs) in his first title bout with the WBO-Europa title on the line. Flyweight brother Pal “Pimpa“ Bedak (2-0, 2 KOs) tales on Kemal Plavci (3-25). Pimpa will be looking for his third straight devastating KO.
