Former two-division world champion Jorge “El Nino de Oro” Linares (32-3, 20 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over veteran Hector Velasquez (52-18-2, 35 KOs) on Saturday night at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California. Looking to bounce back after KO losses to Antonio DeMarco and Sergio Thompson, Linares got the win but wasn’t impressive as he compiled a 100-89, 98-91, 97-91 win.

In the main event, unbeaten welterweight Yoshihiro Kamegai (21-0-1, 18 KOs) and Jorge Silva (19-2-2, 15 KOs) battled to an entertaining ten round draw. Scores were 95-95, 95-95 and 96-94 for Kamegai.

Undercard results:
Guy Robb over Adolfo Landeros, UD-6, featherweights.
John Abella over Pablo Cupul, TKO-4, super-bantams.
Preston Freeman over Jose Mendoza, UD-4; junior-welters.
Hugo Centeno over Justin Williams, UD-6, junior-middles.
Jonathan Chicas over Ralph Prescott, TKO-2; junior-welters.
Andy Vences over Carlos Gonzalez, UD-4; junior-lights.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
