Linares: I’m ready for Rocky

Former two-division world champion Jorge “Niño de Oro” Linares is sure that his preparation was both good and complete. He says he feels calm in front of what is expected to be a hard battle with Rocky Juárez on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. “I should take care of Juarez,” he said. “We did good training, sparring with various Mexicans, Japanese and some Filipinos. We are confident because we didn’t have problems of any type.”
Linares is fighting in the United States first time since 2007 and he’s glad to be back. “All this is very important for me,” he commented, “a perfect setting. It’s a great place for boxing, an incredible environment and above all, where the conditions favor the boxer.”
If Linares wins against Juarez, that would open the door for an October 24 fight in Japan for a super featherweight or lightweight world title.
