Tacoma, Washington’s favorite boxer Emmett Linton (33-5-2) will put his career on the line against former world title challenger Kingsley Ikeke (24-3) on Saturday in a ten rounder at the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle At The Boat 72. Ikeke is no stranger to Northwest boxing fans as he stopped local hero Kenny Ellis in 2003. At the time, Ellis was ranked 3rd in the world by the WBO. “There’s definitely a reason that Kingsley’s nickname is Sharpe Knuckles,” said promoter Brian Halquist. “Kenny was poised to fight for the WBO world title with a win over Ikeke but it just wasn’t meant to be. It was heartbreaking to watch,” Halquist continued. “Linton-Ikeke is a great fight. The winner will be in line for a major fight down the road. There is so much riding on the line for both of these fighters. I expect both fighters to bring their absolute A game.” Both fighters signed for the fight months ago and have been in training camp ever since. Tickets are available at the Emerald Queen Casino box office (253-594-7777) and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M, first fight starts at 7:00 P.M.
