Locals Headline Card in Fort Washington, MD

A number of local prospects will be featured on the Keystone Boxing Promotions card on Saturday, July 13 at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD.

In the main event, undefeated Accokeek, MD junior middleweight “Swift” Jarrett Hurd returns to action in a six-round contest against Joshua Burns of Garland, TX. Hurd (6-0, three KOs) won a six-round unanimous decision over Greg Hackett in his last outing on April 20 in Upper Marlboro, MD. Burns (4-15-7, two KOs) will be trying to bounce back from a first-round TKO loss to Kenton Sippio-Cook on April 27 in Austin, TX.

The card will also mark the return of Washington, DC super middleweight Alexander “The Great” Johnson who will face the aforementioned Greg “Hot-Shot” Hackett of Philadelphia, PA in another six-round contest. Johnson (12-1, five KOs) has not fought since suffering his first loss — an eight-round unanimous decision defeat to Luis Garcia on December 30 in Cabazon, CA. Hackett (2-11) has not fought since his loss to Hurd.

In a bout that could steal the show, undefeated Waldorf, MD junior welterweight Mike “Yes, Indeed” Reed will battle Roberto Lopez of Orlando, FL in a four-round encounter. Reed (3-0, two KOs) is coming off a four-round unanimous decision over DeMarcus Rogers on June 15 in Washington, DC. Reed will go from facing a boxer making his pro debut to his most experienced foe to date in Lopez (4-5-2, one KO) who won four of his first six bouts (4-0-2) before losing five in a row.

Also on the card, DC super middleweight “Mr. Amazing” Greg Newby returns to action in a four-round contest against PJ Cajigas of Chicago, IL. Newby (7-0, four KOs) won a six-round unanimous decision over Mark Anderson on April 27 in Bamberg, SC. Cajigas (0-1-1) lost a four-round unanimous decision to Devar Ferhadi on April 20 in Upper Marlboro.

A number of boxers will make pro debuts on this card. Largo, MD middleweight Jerrell “Supa” Scott will face the equally debuting David “Rock Steady” Rohn of Chicago. Cruiserweight Devon ” Mr. 2-11″ Mosley of Capitol Heights, MD will face Santos Martinez of Adrian, MI (2-3, two KOs). Also, heavyweight Glenn Thomas of East Stroudsburg, PA (0-1) looks for his first win against debuting Deverine Miner of Capitol Heights.
