Jr welterweight Vernon “The Iceman” Paris (28-1, 16 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Manny “Manos” Perez (19-9-1, 4 KOs) on Friday night at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan. Perez seemingly outworked Paris, but the hometown favorite prevailed by scores of 97-93, 96-94, 98-92
Featherweight Cornelius “Lighting” Lock (21-6-1, 13 KOs) overcame two knockdowns to win a unanimous decision against “El Negro Mexicano Lightning” Lonnie Smith (14-5-3, 10 KOs). Lock controlled the fight but Smith was credited with knockdowns in round four and five, although both should have been ruled as slips.
