Super bantamweights Alejandro “Alex” Lopez (24-2-0, 7 KOs) and Jonathan “Momo” Romero (22-0-0, 12 KOs) faced off at the final press conference in advance of their showdown on Saturday night for the vacant IBF super bantamweight championship at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana.
Lopez: “I’m happy to fight for a world championship at home and grateful to my promoter Zanfer, and the only way I can thank Fernando Beltran is getting the title, so I can assure you that on Saturday I am going to be crowned.”
Romero: “I guarantee a spectacular fight. I didn’t come for the money or to lay down. I am serious. I come to win. You will see a real Colombian in the ring.”
Zanfer President Fernando Beltran said this is a great opportunity for Tijuana to have another world champion, and declared that the fight between Lopez and Romero will be spectacular.
The referee will be Geno Rodriguez. Judges are Lisa Giampa (Nevada), Joseph Pasquale (New York) and James Bagshaw (New Mexico). The supervisor will Aaron Kizer.
