WBO featherweight champion Steven Luevano arrive today in New York City, where this Saturday, he will defended his world championship against WBO jr. Featherweight champion, Juan Manuel Lopez in the Theater at Madison Square Garden to be televised by HBO on “Boxing After Dark.” Luevano was accompanied by his wife, Marina three kids, Robert, Rebeca and Raymond, along with his trainer Eduardo Garcia, father of former world champion Robert Garcia and long time trainer of Fernando Vargas, also with him was his manager Greg Hanley. “I’m happy to be here. I have trained very hard for this fight and plan on taking back my belt to California. I expect a hard fight, but I also expect to win,” said Luevano.

Luevano trained in Oxnard, California for the fight under the guidance of Robert and Eduardo Garcia. “Everyone knows that I train hard for all fights and give it my all in the ring. It’s a big fight, but I’ am use to this type of fights and I’m ready to defend my world title on Saturday,” said Luevano. This will be the sixth world title defense for Luevano, who won the world championship back in June of 2007 with a stoppage of Nicky Cook in England.
