IBF#15 middleweight contender Billy Lyell (21-7, 4 KOs) successfully defended his NABC Inter-Continental middleweight title via an eight round unanimous decision over durable veteran Chris Gray (12-11, 1 KO) on Saturday night before a packed house at the Eastwood Expo Center in Niles, Ohio. Displaying a workmanlike performance, Lyell landed several more punches enroute to winning unamimously by scores of 79-73, 78-74 and 77-75.
In a shocker, junior middle Durrell Richardson (12-3) displayed excellent punching power as he demolished former U.S. Olympian Dante Craig (18-9-1) in round one.
Welterweight prospect Jake Giurecio (5-0) passed his toughest test to date by cruising to a six round unanimous decision over James Hope (4-2).
In addition, local light heavy Randy Campbell (2-0) stopped an overmatched Travis Richards (1-6) in the second of the scheduled four rounder.
