M Hatton defeats Nuzhnenko

European welterweight champion Matthew Hatton (40-4-2, 15 KOs) scored his biggest win and retained his belt against favored former WBA interim world champion Yuriy Nuzhnenko (30-2-1, 14 KOs) by winning a unanimous twelve round unanimous decision on Friday night at the Bolton Arena in Bolton, England. Hatton battled back from a first round knockdown to outwork Nuzhnenko over twelve. Scores were 117-110, 116-111, 116-111. Hatton is the younger brother of former world champion Ricky Hatton.

In the co-feature, middleweight Martin Murray (20-0, 7 KOs) took a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over Peter Mitrevski Jr (23-7-1, 11 KOs) to claim the vacant Commonwealth belt. Scores were 120-109, 120-108, 120-109.

Super bantamweight Scott Quigg (20-0, 13 KOs) stopped Gavin Reid (6-7-1, 3 KOs) in his first ten-rounder.
