Telemundo Network will televise the main event live at 11:35.
Fightnews caught up with Mabait a day before the fight as well as his trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. who chimed in.
Do you worry about fighting in the home country of Garcia?
Mabait: I don’t worry about that because I’m very confident that I will beat him convincingly.
Donaire: The Mexican fans are very intelligent fans. I was there with my son Glenn when he fought and defeated a Mexican fighter in Omar Salado and they applauded my son after the victory and took pictures with him and everything. On another occasion when I was in Mexico was for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s first fight with Matt Vanda. Close fight that Chavez won but the fans were very upset with the decision in favor of Chavez. So right there shows you that they are not biased but very fair.
How are you adjusting to the high altitude of Mexico City?
Mabait: Honestly it has not been much of an adjustment for me. There will be no issues come fight night.
Have you seen video of Garcia?
Mabait: I have seen him on YouTube. He seems tough but I’ll beat him.
Donaire: His style is a good matchup for Marvin. I’m not saying it’ll be easy, but stylistically it’s a good matchup for Marvin.
Do you feel you need a knockout to beat Garcia?
Mabait: I’m going to knock him out!
