Former WBO cruiserweight champion-turned-light heavyweight Enzo Maccarinelli (37-6, 29 KOs) Courtney Fry (18-3, 6 KOs) in a clash for the Commonwealth belt on Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Maccarinelli dropped Fry at the end of round one. Fry battled back into the fight but Maccarinelli floored Fry again in the sixth and after more punishment in the seventh, Fry’s corner threw in the towel.
In a clash for the WBO Euro lightweight belt, Stephen Ormond (16-1, 7 KOs) outworked local favorite Derry Mathews (34-9-2, 19 KOs) over ten to win by scores of 98-93, 98-93, 98-92.
Unbeaten super flyweight Paul Butler (14-0, 7 KOs) cored a twelve round unanimous decision over Ruben Montoya (12-2-1, 8 KOs). Scores were 120-109, 120-108, 118-110. The WBO intercontinental and vacant WBA international belts were at stake.
In a clash of unbeaten jr middleweights, Joe Selkirk (12-0, 5 KOs) stopped Zoltan Sera (12-1, 8 KOs) with a body shot in round three.
British light middleweight titleholder Liam Smith (16-0-1, 6 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO Mark Thompson (25-4, 15 KOs) Smith dropped Thompson twice in round three and the bout was waved off by referee Phil “Quick Stop” Edwards :13 into the fourth.
