Maidana: I’ll beat all of them!

WBA interim super light world champion Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27 KOs) made his Las Vegas debut a spectacular one, destroying previously unbeaten #2 rated Victor Cayo in six brutal rounds at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. “I’m very happy,” Maidana said afterward. “I felt the whole time that it would happen. Cayo was a very respectable opponent. I found him very quick and mobile, but I had no doubt that I’d catch him eventually. Thanks to my management for this duel. As for my next fight, I trust that entirely to my promoter. I don’t care whether it’s Amir Khan or anyone else. I’ll beat all of them.”

Promoter Dietmar Poszwa added, “We had hoped for a spectacular knockout. The audience at the Hard Rock Casino and HBO was thrilled. Everyone was very impressed by Marcos’ KO power. He is boxing more and more into the hearts of Americans. HBO has an appetite for more and we do too. For us it was a great success here in Las Vegas.”
