The possibility exists that in the next few hours a fight between the three-time world champion Erik “Terrible” Morales and former WBA interim world champion Marcos “El Chino” Maidana will be officially announced for April 9 in Las Vegas. The bout would top a Golden Boy Promotions card televised by HBO. After WBA/WBO lightweight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez decided to pass on the fight with Morales, Golden Boy Promotions immediately began to seek quality opponents. Sources say it is likely that Morales-Maidana would be for the WBA interim super lightweight belt.
