Maidana supports Abregú

WBA Interim Super Lightweight champion Marcos Maidana, who will make his return to the rings next August 28 in Argentina against Demarcus Chop Chop Corley, wished good luck to his fellow countryman Carlos Abregu from Argentina who will face Timothy Bradley tomorrow in California. “I wish Carlos all the best for such an important fight. He is my compatriot and I am 100% behind him. I’ll be supporting him through the TV. He is a great guy who can really punch, so Bradley could be in a big problem. I think Abregú can win by KO,” Maidana said.

Maidana is currently at training camp in his native country in preparation for the Corley fight.

“After the serious managerial problems I had to experienced I am already focused again and very excited to have a great challenge ahead of me. Corley is a great foe, with quite a vast experience on his shoulders. On top of that, I’ll be fighting at the legendary Luna Park stadium which is an honour for me,” he added.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
