Maidana to return Sept 23

WBA super lightweight champion Marcos Maidana keeps training in his home province looking for his next fight that will take place September 23 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After the cancellation of his fight against Robert Guerrero as the latter got injured Argentinean Marcos “El Chino” Maidana made one thing very clear: he wanted to be in the ring as soon as possible. Therefore, he will be fighting to stay busy next Friday September 23 at Sociedad Alemana de Villa Ballester, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“As everybody knows we went through a tough training camp for Guerrero that lasted three months between training in Argentina and Puerto Rico. But we couldn’t fight so I feel like knocking anyone out right now. You’ll see me on September 23,” Maidana said.

“We got back to Argentina and started a new training camp in the city of Rafaela with all my team. I am ready since a while now, so we’re just doing a maintance rutine,” he added.

“It will be great to fight before people of my onw neighborhood as I’ve living in Villa Ballester since I was 15. I can picture a full house because my people always supports me, thanks God,” Maidana added.

As far as Maidana’s opponent it will announced this week.

“It hasn’t been easy to secure as rival for Maidana as many of the potential rivals are not available for one reason or another. Others asked for a lot of money, amounts that are impossible to pay in Argentina. However, we are close to sign the contracts with the opponent,” Maidana’s advisor Sebastian Contursi informed.

Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
