Manfredo takes on Hernandez

Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, April 10th as TKO Boxing Promotions returns with it’s nationally acclaimed “Hometown Heroes to World Champions” series on Saturday, May 22nd at the Mohegan Sun Casino, headlined by the return of Peter “The Pride of Providence” Manfredo battling Chicago’s Angel “El Toro” Hernandez for the vacant IBO middleweight title.

The ten round co-main event will feature Hartford’s Matt “The Sharpshooter” Remillard defending his NABF featherweight title.
Priced at $75.00, $45.00 and $30.00, tickets will be available through Ticketmaster (, phone 1-800-745-3000.) Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Sunday, April 11th. Doors on the evening of the event will open at 6:30pm with the first bell at 7:30pm.

Manfredo made his return to the Mohegan Sun Casino on January 29th with an outstanding shutout ten round decision over Minnesota veteran Matt Vanda, acquiring the NABF Middleweight Title in the process. In front of a large and passionate crowd, Manfredo dominated Vanda from the opening bell as he won his third straight bout.

With a record of 34-6-0 (18KO’s), Manfredo is currently world ranked #10 by the World Boxing Council.
Hernandez, a native of San Luis Potosi , Mexico , 30-7-0 (17KO’s), has battled numerous world champions and contenders over his fourteen year career including Winky Wright, Frankie Randall, Kassim Ouma, Wilfredo Rivera and JC Candelo.

Known for his fan friendly all-action style of fighting, Hernandez won both of his starts in 2009, a unanimous decision over highly regarded prospect James “BUDDY” McGirt Jr. on January 16th and a sixth round stoppage over former world champion Antwun Echols on August 21st.

The 23 year old Remillard is one of the most highly regarded prospects in boxing. After winning all four of his bouts in 2009, he raised his undefeated record to 21-0-0 (12KO’s) on January 29th at the Mohegan Sun Casino with a third round stoppage of Rafael Lora which earned him the NABF Featherweight Title.
