Mansour faces Harris in Dover, DE on Friday

Unbeaten heavyweight Amir “Hardcore” Mansour (18-0, 14 KOs) returns to the ring this Friday, August 23 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware to face savvy veteran Maurice “Mo Bettah” Harris (26-17-2, 11 KOs) in the twelve round main event. At stake will be the vacant USBA heavyweight title, and the world ranking that comes with it. Mansour and Harris will also battle for the vacant WBF intercontinental heavyweight title. Mansour scored two first round knockouts in each of his 2013 appearances, while Harris scored a decision win over Jason Bergman in his last outing.

In the co-feature, Edgar “El Chamaco” Santana (27-4, 18 KOs) takes on Luis “Morochito” Hernandez (22-6, 15 KOs) in a ten round welterweight bout. Santana stopped Eddie Soto in three rounds last January, while Hernandez lost to hot prospect Jermall Charlo in two rounds back in June.

Dover Downs Hotel & Casino is also the promoter of the event.

Other bouts:

Teenage phenom Dusty Hernandez Harrison (16-0, 9 KOs) makes his sixth appearance in 2013 when he faces Guillermo Valdes (12-4, 3 KOs) in a six round welterweight bout. Hernandez Harrison, just 19 years old, has the boxing ability and ring generalship of an experienced contender. Super middleweight star Andre Ward made the trek to Delaware just to see Dusty fight live against Jonathan Garcia in April.

Another rising star, Omar “Super O” Douglas (9-0, 7 KOs) takes on seasoned veteran Anthony Napunyi (14-13, 7 KOs) in a six round super featherweight bout. Douglas stopped DeWayne Wisdom in three rounds just three weeks ago in Newark, Delaware.

“Jolt’N” Joey Tiberi (10-1, 5 KOs) also returns just three weeks after his last fight to face an opponent to be named shortly in an six round lightweight match. Tiberi decisioned Miguel Antonio Rodriguez last time out.

Popular local fighter John “Church Boy” Bowman (6-0-1, 1 KO) sees action against Kenneth Moody (2-4-2, 1 KO) in a four round super middleweight bout.

Earl “The Bull” Platt (3-0, 3 KOs) takes on Dover’s Lamont “The Problem Solver” Singletary (5-0, 3 KOs) in a four round battle of unbeaten cruiserweight prospects.

Dominic Goode meets Anthony Miller in a four round junior middleweight bout. Both fighters will be making their pro debuts.
