South Africa’s Zolani Marali hopes to win his fourth world belt when he takes on Thailand’s Fahsai Sakkreenin for the vacant IBO junior lightweight belt at Emperors Palace, Kempton Park on March 21 on a bill presented by Golden Gloves Promotions. Marali (19-2, 13 KOs) has previously held the IBO and World Boxing Foundation junior featherweight and World Boxing Foundation junior lightweight belts. The 27-year-old Fahsai (23-1, 9 KOs), who will be having his first fight outside his home country, won the IBF Pan Pacific featherweight title when he outpointed Edgar Gabijon who has a reported record of 6-13-2 in April 2008 and in his most recent fight in November 2008 he stopped Lekpetch Photonggym in the fifth round.
On the undercard, heavyweight Jake Els will meet Zimbabwe’s Thamsanqa Dube for the WBA Pan African title and Hekkie Budler will take on Charity Mukondelelei in a 12-round bout for the IBO Pan African junior flyweight champion in an all South African clash.
Mukondeleli is ranked at number four in the most recent Boxing SA rankings and Budler at number five.
Former US Olympian Demetrius Andrade, 20, will also fight on the bill against an opponent yet to be announced.
At the Beijing Olympics in the welterweight division Andrade beat Kakhaber Jvania of Georgia and Andrey Balanov of Russia before being eliminated by Kim Jungjoo of South Korea on a questionable 11-9 decision in the semi finals.
Since joining the professional ranks in October last year Andrade who was world amateur welterweight champion in 2007 has had two wins and is tipped as a future champion.
Unbeaten junior heavyweight Jared Lovett will take on Thailand’s Anon Donpradit in a scheduled eight rounder.
