A source has informed Fightnews.com that a fight scheduled for July 21 between WBA super lightweight world champion Marcos “El Chino” Maidana (31-3, 28 KOs) and undefeated Keith Thurman (17-0, 16 KOs) is off. The fight was announced to be held at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio on the card headined by WBO super featherweight champion Adrian Bonner (23-0, 19 KOs) against Vicente Escobedo (26-3, 15 KOs). According to the source the fight has been announced but the Maidana Team did not receive nor sign contracts for the non-title fight and apparently have decided not to fight. After the victory of Lucas Matthysse (31-2, 29 KOs), there’s a possibility for a big Maidana-Matthysse fight at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
