Margarito decision coming soon
The California State Athletic Commission’s one year suspension of former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito is due to expire later this week and Margarito is looking to get back into the ring on the March 13 Pacquiao-Clottey card in Dallas. Team Margarito has already submitted an application for a boxing license to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which is currently being reviewed. Reciprocal enforcement of suspended boxing licenses are not mandatory beyond the term of the license itself, so despite the recent recommendation of the Association of Boxing Commissions to not license Margarito at this time, Texas boxing authorities are within their legal rights if they choose to do so. Stay tuned.
