The “Tijuana Tornado” is back!

After nearly a year-and-a-half out of the ring, former welterweight champion Antonio ‘Tijuana Tornado’ Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs) won a ten round unnaimous decision over Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia (28-3, 21 KOs) on Saturday night before a crowd of 17,000+ at La Plaza de Toros Monumental in Aguascalientes, Ags., Mexico. Margarito dropped Garcia in round one and was in command from the get-go. Garcia was game and aggressive, but Margarito was more accurate and effective with his combinations. Referee Guadalupe Garcia took a points from Garcia for a headbutt in round eight and a low blow in the tenth. Scores were 99-89, 100-88, 99-90.

WBA interim super featherweight champion Jorge “Coloradito” Solis (39-2-2, 28 KOs) outboxed Mario Santiago (21-3-1, 14 KOs) over twelve one-sided rounds. Scores were 119-108, 118-109, 118-109.

In a good action WBA lightweight eliminator, WBA #3 Urbano Antillon (27-1, 20 KOs) pounded out a ten round unanimous decision over #2 rated super featherweight Rene Gonzalez (27-1-1, 21 KOs). After a spirited first stanza, Antillon dropped Gonzalez at the end of the round. Excellent two-way action in rounds two-six. Antillon was credited with another knockdown in the seventh (it was more of a slip), and went on to win by scores of 100-90, 99-91, 99-91.

Unbeaten featherweight prospect “Mikey” Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) had his toughest fight to date against rugged Pedro Navarrete (24-8-3, 13 KOs), winning an eight round unanimous decision. Scores were 77-75, 79-75, 78-74.
