After a successful debut in May, the TV2 Fight Night returns on November 20 when Rudy Markussen and Patrick Nielsen will once again showcase their talents at MCH Herning. The duo will headline an action-packed show that features the very best of Danish professional boxing. While Markussen (34-2, 21 KOs) will try to move one step closer to a European title fight with a victory over Serbia´s Dejan Ribac (19-1, 7 KOs), up-and-coming Nielsen faces a tough challenge from unbeaten Swede Adnan Salihu (4-0, 2 KOs). “My goal is to be a champion again soon,” said Markussen, who stopped Christophe Karagoz in his comeback bout in May. “I have trained very hard since my last fight and I will continue my way back to the top with a victory over Ribac. He is a dangerous opponent but I will take care of business against him.”

Gifted middleweight Patrick Nielsen has had one fight since his impressive showing in Herning, blitzing Laszlo Haaz in the first round of their meeting in Erfurt in August. The 19-year-old is looking for his seventh victory in as many fights (5 KOs). “I love to fight and I am keen to get as many bouts under my belt as possible,” Nielsen said. “It doesn’t matter who they put in front of me. I will not allow anybody to stop me on my way to the top. I will defeat Salihu in style to please my fans in Herning and everyone watching on TV2.”

Promoter Nisse Sauerland promised fight fans an exciting evening. “There will be a lot at stake for Rudy and Patrick. Rudy showed that there is still a lot of boxing left in him but on his way back to the top there is no room for error. He looked impressive in his comeback against Karagoz but now is the time to step up and convincingly defeat an even stronger opponent. The same is true for Patrick. As his KO record shows, he has incredible punching power, but can he deal with a more aggressive style of fighter like Salihu? I certainly think so but the answer can only be given inside the ring on November 20.”

Tickets for the TV2 Fight Night are on sale. They can be purchased at, at ticket sales MCH Herning Kongrescenter and via the hotline +45 7033 1333. Claus Donslund, Director at MCH, said of the boxing series: “The first TV2 Fight Night was a success. We are excited to stage the next fights of Rudy Markussen and Patrick Nielsen and support them on their way to the top of international boxing. We look forward to presenting another exciting show from Team Sauerland and TV2 in Herning.”

More details about the undercard will be announced shortly.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
