Marquez confident in judging!

By Karl Freitag

In March 2006, Juan Manuel Marquez traveled to Indonesia to challenge WBA featherweight champion Chris John on John’s home turf. With two point deductions late in that bout, the Marquez camp contends he didn’t get a fair shake in his opponent’s backyard. Marquez will again be fighting in enemy territory when he faces Juan Diaz on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. “I’ve got no worries whatsoever,” stated Marquez today on the topic of his opponent again having homefield advantage. “Part of the deal was I would take the fight but I wanted neutral judges and I feel my promoter Golden Boy Promotions did a good job. I’m very satisfied with the judges as long as they do their job and score what they see in the ring.” The always respectful Diaz said Marquez is “a man on a mission” and “he doesn’t care about where or who he fights.”
