Albuquerque’s Archie Ray Marquez (10-0, 7 KOs), scheduled to fight Marvin Quintero (20-3, 16 KOs) this Friday on Showtime’s ShoBox card from the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif., has been forced to pull out due to an injury. Last week, Marquez sustained an injury while sparring and when the pain did not subside, local physicians were consulted. A hernia is suspected.
Update: An MRI has revealed that Archie Ray Marquez has suffered from a sports hernia. The bad news? He’s out of this weekend’s fight. The good news? No surgery will be required and a rest period of four to six weeks should heal the damage.
