Flyweight contender Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (28-2, 22 KOs) returned to his winning ways with a fifth round stoppage of Valentín “Picoco” Leon (24-21-2, 18 KOs) on Friday night at the Centro de Usus Múltiples in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. Marquez overpowered Leon from the opening round and got the KO when the game Leon chose to launch a “make or break” assault in round five. “I’m very happy with this victory. Picoco was an opponent with a lot of experience, but I came very well prepared and very motivated to win. Everything went well and I expect the company to re-schedule another fight soon,” stated Marquez, who ended a two fight losing streak against Filipinos Nonito Donaire and Richie Mepranum.
