By Gabriel F. Cordero

Former WBA flyweight world champion Hernan “Tyson” (35-3-2, 26 KOs) and former IBF light flyweight world champion Carlos Tamara (23-7-1, 17 KOs) will meet in elimination bout for the WBO flyweight title on June 1 at the Estadio Sonora, Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. “I am very excited about fighting again in Hermosillo and on a big stage like the new stadium and more because it will be an elimination bout and with a win I’ll be one step closer to achieving my goal, which is to be world champion again,” said Marquez “I’ve done a lot of preparation because I know I’ll face a very difficult and experienced opponent in Carlos Tamara, who also was already a world champion.”

In other action, WBC interim super flyweight “silver” champion David “Tornado” Sanchez (20-2-2, 15 KOs) will face Filipino Marc Anthony Geraldo (28-4-3, 12 KOs) and light flyweight Gilberto “Parrita” Medina (14-1, 13 KOs) will defend his WBA Fedelatin flyweight title against Jesus Limones (14-6-1, 6 KOs).
