Thompson Boxing Promotions returned to the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California with “Locked and Loaded” for its final series closing the year with an action packed card. In the main event San Diego featherweight Christopher Martin (25-2-3, 8 KOs) scored a nice second round KO against Robert Guillen (6-10-3, 1 KO) of Glendale, Arizona. A left hook to the chin by Martin sent Guillen through the ropes as referee Raul Caiz stopped the contest at 1:27 of round two.

In the welterweight co-main event, Colton’s Artemio Reyes Jr. (18-2, 14 KOs) knocked out Gerardo “Pipino” Cuevas Jr. (15-9, 13 KOs) of Chihuahua, Mexico, in round two. Reyes stalked Cuevas from the opening bell and landed a left hook to the body that bothered Cuevas in round. Moments later a crushing right hand floored Cuevas moments later. Referee Zach Young counted and then waved off the bout at 1:51.

Opening the action San Pedro’s Isaac Zarate (5-0) dominated Abel Gomez (3-6, 1 KO) as he cruised to a unanimous decision win in a four round bout. All three judges scored the bout identical 40-36.

Junior Middleweights Joshua Conley (4-0, 4 KOs) made quick work of Mike Noriega (4-2, 4 KOs) as he landed a devastating right hand followed with a flurry of combinations as referee Raul Caiz Sr. stepped in at 2:19 of the first round.

In heavyweight action Javier Torres (5-0, 32 KOs) returned to the Doubletree Hotel fighting for the third time in three months as he scored a TKO over Marlon Santizo (0-2) at 1:11 of the fourth round. Torres landed a right hand in round one that floored the bigger Santizo. After digging to the body Torres began to tee off on Santizo at the end of round three and early in the fourth Santizo’s corner threw in the towel.

In a scheduled four round lightweight bout, Derrick “Whoop Dat Ass” Murray (5-0-1, 3 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Oscar Chinchilla (2-3-1). Murray scored a flash knockdown with a straight right ring late in the opening round on the southpaw Chinchilla. In round two Chinchilla came out landing a huge left as he pressured the elusive fast handed Murray. However Murray used his talent hand speed out-boxing the tough Chinchilla as all three judges scored the bout 40-35 for Murray.

Thompson Boxing will return in February to the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario for its 2013 season.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
