Tensions were high today at the weigh-in for tomorrow night’s Final Victory fight card featuring Christy Martin vs. Mia St. John at Table Mountain Casino on Friant, CA. St. John was late to the weigh-in at the Bod-e Shop, which had Martin fuming. The Coal Miner’s Daughter promised to take out her frustrations in the ring and the ceremonial photo op after the weights were recorded featured both fighters talking under their breath to each other.
All of the fighters on the five-bout card made weight.
Christy Martin 150.2 vs. Mia St. John 146.6
Aaron Acevedo 132.2 vs. Angel Torres 133
Yoshi Fujii 132 vs. Jose Garcia 131.8
David Barragan 157 vs. Beau “The Show” Hamilton 156.8
Luis Villagomez 125.4 vs. Manuel Ortega 126.2
The 44-year-old Martin (49-6-3, 31 KOs) and the 45-year-old St. John (46-11-2, 18 KOs) will meet for vacant WBC super welterweight world championship. The fight is a rematch of their 2002 bout in Pontiac, Michigan, which was won by Martin via hard fought unanimous decision. Both have stated that this is their last fight. The promoter for this event is Roy Englebrecht Promotions.
