“People want to see excitement, they like big knockouts,” Promoter Lou DiBella told the press at a luncheon held for his fighter Sergio Martinez, today in Las Vegas’ MGM. “Particularly if you’re  capable of knocking out the best in the world.  That’s what Sergio Martinez delivers – excitement.”  Fresh off his stunning KO win of Paul Williams last week in Atlantic City, Team Martinez says Sergio is ready to fight the best. “I’m hoping someone is going to stand up and realize [fighting Sergio Martinez] is an opportunity,” said DiBella.

“My life changed professionally, but not personally [since the Williams knockout], I continue to be the same guy,” Martinez said.  Stay tuned for a full report on Monday on today’s presser.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
