Martinez eyes middleweight title

WBC jr middleweight champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez (44-2, 24 KOs) faces the biggest test of his career Saturday when he challenges Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik (36-1, 32 KOs) for WBC/WBO middleweight titles at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. “Other than the Williams fight, this will probably be the toughest fight of my career,” admits Martinez. Martinez was awarded a shot at the middleweight champion after losing a close, grueling twelve round majority decision against Paul “The Punisher” Williams in a “Fight of the Year” candidate at the same venue in December 2009.
