Unbeaten WBC silver super lightweight beltholder Roberto “Massa” Ortiz (31-0-1, 24 KOs) defended his title with a fifth round TKO against Ramiro “Xixime” Alcaraz (14-4-1, 8 KOs) on Saturday night at the Grand Oasis Arena in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Ortiz dropped Alcaraz in round four. In the following round, a punch from Ortiz opened up a bad cut over the left eye of Alcaraz and the bout was halted.

The WBC #4 Ortiz, who is rapidly closing in on a shot at Danny “Swift” Garcia’s world championship, made the ninth defense of his silver belt.

In the 10-round co-main event, female junior flyweight Anabel “Avispa” Ortiz (13-3, 2 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Ivonne “Chiquita” Rosas (10-7-1, 2 KOs). Scores were 99’, 100-90, 100-90.
